LaMarcus Aldridge talks about how Wemby is so skilled that it causes him to overthink. Says he needs to slow down and develop a couple of "go-to" moves that he can rely on consistently.

David Robinson and Timmy should be paid by the Spurs soley to have Wemby develop some post moves. No way he's winning MVP with go-go gadget arms as his go-to move.
Even a guy like Giannis who relies on his physical gifts has a near unstoppable spin move

Thing is, Wemby’s center of gravity is too high and the shorter/stronger defender can nudge him and bump him, and make sure whenever Wemby’s post move leads to the finishing touch he’s slightly off balance. And that’ll drastically reduce the efficiency.
Same strat doesn’t apply to Timmy or David because they’re strong af. It didn’t even work on Yao who’s taller than Wemby because Yao has tree trunks for legs. I think this might be one of the reasons Wemby chooses to shoot 3s over defender

Yup, the reason why wemby resolves to take so many threes late in games is because he's too tired from trying to work in the paint

Exactly.
People don't get that Wemby's style of play is exhausting. They think it's easy because he's tall, but he's the center of the offense and the defense and on both ends fighting a massive leverage disadvantage.
The post isn't where Wemby needs to go. He should just work on short roll decision making. Look at Jamal Murray and Jokic as the blue print for a go-to offensive set.

Saw a lot of the same thing happening with KP, not an "alien" like Wemby but close to it and his post moves were, at least during a lot of his tenure at the Mavs dogshit. He would turn over the ball so much trying to work in the paint so he resorted to shooting. And when he was hot it was great. But when he wasn't he was a dead weight on the offensive end.

Why don't he just shoot middy over everyone like KD
7. u/WhichHoes · 2026-10-21 16:46 UTC
He is literally always in the high post with his length, so it would make sense to develop a few pull up middy moves with a couple counters

That's true, but he's also an absolutely massive, insanely athletic freak of nature with a high BBIQ and impressive feel/coordination. I'm sure he can develop some go to moves.

Sure, just probably not post moves. He should be watching KD
10. u/derpioauditore · 2026-10-21 17:51 UTC
Are you not watching the games? He's been trying to be KD

Didn't say he wasn't. This thread is saying he needs to learn post moves

I just want to say that it is funny your name is Apatosaurus because an Apatosaurus is extremely tall but is the opposite of Wemby in that it has extremely thick, muscular, legs that are basically immovable weight-bearing columns and a massive chest. An apatosaurus is like Shaq at his prime.

Where are they. Mara same body more moves
14. u/swill59 · 2026-10-21 18:45 UTC
Wemby with a sky hook could be unstoppable

I will never be able to scrub the image of Kristaps absolutely failing to back down Kyle Lowry from my memory
16. u/BadBeats-110 · 2026-10-21 15:06 UTC
Yea for real, kind of seems like he's too proud to go to the post more. If he got a good post game he'd be unstoppable.

Imagine if Wemby could develop that little turn around off the glass shot Timmy had. No one could touch that shit

Think he should develop a dirk fade maybe

This summer the Spurs hired Pau Gasol to their player development staff

Aday Mara plays more like Pau Gasol. I think Wemby really needs a vet PG that sets up for him and doesn’t bow down to him and actually tell him he’s making stupid plays.
