Probably not great to start trade conversations with “he’s probably going to medically retire”
It’s gotta be a salary dump with pick(s) attached.

Tbh it might be best for his long term health to call it a career

I thought for sure he was gonna retire after last season. The Warriors are wild for giving him another contract.

Who tf were we bidding against? Absolute malpractice by Dunleavy

Most underhated individual in all of sports.

Not by Giannis (and many of his counterparts in his playing career)

Giannis knew he was a POS https://youtube.com/shorts/VzkqbKEzaGw?is=zyVnPw\_x2Q5JoyaA

He will, but not until his contract is paid out.
He can live his life and try to manage his illness all the same while getting paid.

if he has to medically retire, he still gets paid

Yeah, pretty sure as long as it is deemed legit by independent doctors, he gets paid and the team would get cap relief.
I wonder if the holdup is just KP not wanting to officially go that route, especially if it's final, meaning he couldn't come back in a year or two if his situation improved.

I think maybe he can? Bosh tried to make a comeback but my memory is no team wanted to take the risk, not that he wasn't permitted to return by rule. I'm just shooting from the hip here though

but LMA had a similar issue didn’t he? and he came back for like a season after he was diagnosed? then again i’m also shooting from the hip l
edit: similar to bosh i mean, not KP

Aldridge had a fib iirc. Different.

Typically autoimmune diseases don’t heal on their own. They have to be managed through daily meds or through IV’s every 2-4 weeks. Again, typically this is the case. He shouldn’t rush this decision because the medical team he has being a professional athlete is leaps and bounds better than what he would get on his own, regardless of how much money he’s saved up through his playing days.

And insurance can pay up to 80% so cheap owners (Portland?) would be interested

His contract is only $3m guaranteed next season so a salary dump doesn’t make sense when they can cut him. It’ll be him + pick(s) for some rotational player if it happens. Especially to a rebuilding team that needs pick à la the clipper or bucks

Could be a salary dump the other way--useful but overpaid player signed for longer from the other team

Yeah but...you guys are still trying to be good this year though lol
